Dear scenesatters,
the queuing compo has run on 21/8/2011!
It was one evening full of pure demoscene listening pleasure, together with some added compo thrill and fun!

Frequently asked questions
Q: What is a queuing compo?
A: That's a demoscene style competition that runs on Scenesat Radio, live. Participants become DJ for an evening, and are able to queue a list of tracks of their own choice. Listeners do vote for every participant according to how good the queuing was.

Q: Cool! Was there a prize?
A: This was one small compo, was free for everyone to join and was not even part of a proper demoparty, therefore there has been no prize apart from fame.

How the compo took place
The compo took place on Scenesat Radio, starting at 20:00 CET of 21/8/2011.
Participants took turns. At his/her own turn, each participant queued his/her 3 choices. When everyone's choices have been heard, listeners chose a winning participant and submitted their votes to the organizers. Results have been published live on the IRC channel.

Rules we have used
- You should queue no less and no more than three entries, or you will be disqualified.
- When it's your turn you'll have three minutes to do your queuing. This is needed for everyone to be allowed his/her own time while the already queued tracks are playing. If you prepared in advance this should be more than enough for some relaxed searching plus some last minute thinking. If you can't queue three entries in the given time you'll be disqualified.
- Participants can vote as well, but self voting is forbidden.
- The same track cannot be queued twice in the same compo, therefore if another participant has already queued a track that you wanted to use, you're simply out of luck. Plan ahead for some alternatives!
- The same artist cannot be queued twice in the same compo, therefore if another participant has already queued a track from an artist you wanted to use, you're simply out of luck. Plan ahead for some alternatives!
- Your queuing must adhere to the proposed theme. The chosen theme will be announced one week before the compo so that you'll have some time to plan your queuing.
- Your might want to use some "flow logic" that will link together all your queued tracks. This logic can be anything you like, from mood to beat to whatever, and is not mandatory. But listeners will be asked to judge that, so you are better off planning carefully.
- Turns will be chosen at random just before the compo starts, therefore registering as soon as possible will not get you a better position into the turn list.

Voting
Each listener could give out votes to each participant by compiling the voting sheet that will is still available below. Voting sheets were submitted to the appropriate organizer via query using a simple text copy-paste function.
Voters was asked for a separate judgement, on a per-participant basis, over the following categories:
- Popularity of the chosen tunes (the less popular the better - try to find something that's been lost in the shuffle)
- Overall "mood" or "flow" of the queued tracks
In order to review what each participant actually queued, voters could access Scenesat's track history function.

Theme
The chosen theme was DemoParty tracks. Tracks have been used that:
- have been part of a demo
- have been part of a compo
- would have set a party mood (like Rob is Jarig... ;)

The theme that we had in mind for the first go around was Demo Party stuff. Doesn't have to be from a demo, it can be music compos or whatever as well.
