Help with SceneSat on iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac, Apple TV and Android TV / Google TV, and with listening on the website. Features and controls vary by platform and app version.

Playback, buffering or no sound

Link to this section
  1. Check the app's volume, your device's volume and the selected audio output, including Bluetooth, AirPlay or headphones.
  2. Pause and resume playback. If that does not help, stop the stream and select the channel again.
  3. Try another channel or a recorded show. If only one stream or show fails, tell us which one.
  4. Check your connection. Where a quality selector is available, try a lower stream quality, especially on mobile data or an unreliable connection.
  5. Restart the app and check for an update. If playback works on the website but not in the app, include that in your report.

Automatic stream quality: Where available, choose Auto (HLS) to let the player adjust stream quality as your connection changes. Older versions may label the same option HLS (auto). The name change does not alter automatic quality adjustment or the extra buffering delay that HLS can add compared with a direct MP3 or AAC stream.

In versions with the Auto control, hover over it or focus it with the keyboard, or open the quality menu/settings, to see playback details when available.

If playback stops when the screen locks, check that the app is allowed to use background data and that battery-saving settings are not restricting it. On a TV, also check the device's sleep settings. For interruptions at a particular point in a recorded show, send the show link and playback time.

Downloads and offline listening

Link to this section

On apps that offer Downloads, let the download finish while online before relying on it offline. Check that the device has enough free space. If a download fails or will not play, remove that local download and download it again while connected.

Removing a downloaded copy frees device storage; it does not delete your account or the show from the SceneSat archive. Signing out, reinstalling an app or clearing its storage can remove local settings and offline files. Keep that in mind before using those steps to troubleshoot.

SceneSatID and signing in

Link to this section

Listening and browsing do not require an account. A SceneSatID unlocks supported account features such as saved lists, synced listening positions and community participation.

Use the app's Account screen to sign in. On TVs, follow the on-screen QR code or verification address and enter the displayed code on your phone or computer. If it expires, start again to get a new code. Use SceneSatID for the sign-in and recovery options offered there.

If a saved list or listening position is missing, check that you are signed into the same account on both devices and that both are online. For a Quick list, the bookmark control shows whether the current identified track is saved. Some streams do not provide an identifiable track, so saving may not be available.

Never send us your password, recovery codes, sign-in codes, session cookies or access tokens. For account help, send your username and a description of the problem; we may ask you to verify ownership through a suitable private channel.

Updates and installation

Link to this section

For an App Store or Google Play installation, check that store for updates. For direct downloads, use the official SceneSat downloads. Update notices depend on the platform and distribution channel, and a newly released build may take time to appear in a store.

Mac downloads offer an Apple Silicon installer and a universal installer for Apple Silicon and Intel. Choose the package that matches your Mac, close SceneSat when the installer asks, and reopen it after installation. If installation or an update fails, include the exact error and the version you were upgrading from.

Notifications

Link to this section

Where notifications are offered, check both the SceneSat notification preferences and your device's notification permission. You can turn notifications off without deleting your account. Delivery also depends on connectivity and the platform's notification service.

Some notification registrations belong to a device rather than a signed-in account. Turn off SceneSat notifications on each device if you want to stop them everywhere; signing out or requesting account deletion is not a substitute for changing those device settings.

Chat, messages and unwanted content

Link to this section

Use the report and hide/block controls available in your version, or contact info@scenesat.com if a control is unavailable or you need help. Include a message link, channel or show, approximate date/time with timezone, and a short explanation. Do not repost someone else's private information in public chat to report it.

Public community chat can be relayed to connected platforms and replayed with recordings. See the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use before sharing personal information or media.

Get a copy of your data

One request covers your personal data across all SceneSat services you use—not just this app or website. We review SceneSatID, the website and apps, chat and community services, Foundry, and any other SceneSat contributor or administration services associated with you. You do not need to submit a separate request to each SceneSat service. The export explains the services checked, any retained data that could not be reliably linked to you, and any justified exclusions.

Sign in at Download my data and request an export. We prepare a ZIP after reviewing the account's data across the relevant services. When it is ready, we email a link to the account page; the ZIP is not attached to the email. You must sign in to the same account to download it.

The first accepted request has a minimum one-hour delay. Further exports within 30 days have minimum delays of one day, three days, then seven days. Clicking again while a request is pending keeps that request and its schedule. Review can take longer than the minimum delay; unusually large exports may need an arranged secure delivery.

The download expires seven days after it becomes available. If you cannot access it, no longer have access to your account email, or need help exercising a data right, contact us. These scheduling limits do not extend applicable legal response deadlines.

Delete your account

Link to this section

Account deletion is a request across all SceneSat services. It covers the associated SceneSatID and personal data in the website/apps, community and chat, Foundry, and other SceneSat services you use. Completion requires a review of those services, including linked identities, uploads and retained copies; removing only a website profile is not completion. The exceptions for anonymized shared history and legally required records are explained below.

The account-deletion entry point is Delete your account. The online request form is currently temporarily unavailable. You can still contact info@scenesat.com to make an account-deletion or other privacy request. We will verify ownership and explain the process; uninstalling an app alone does not delete an account.

SceneSatID is used across SceneSat services. Deletion removes access to the associated account features. Ask for any export you want before deletion is completed: records that have been irreversibly anonymized cannot later be reconstructed as your personal history.

When fulfilling deletion, we remove account-identifying data and handle associated content and copies under our control. Play/request history and votes are preserved with their account connection anonymized so the shared history and vote totals remain intact. Donation and purchase records may need to be retained for bookkeeping or legal obligations; unnecessary personal details are removed or anonymized. The Privacy Policy explains the scope and retained records.

Deleting SceneSatID does not itself cancel a recurring payment managed by PayPal, Patreon, an app store or another provider. Manage any such payment with that provider as well.

Donations, purchases and receipts

For payment or download-entitlement help, include the date, provider and order or transaction reference if available. Do not send full payment-card or bank details. For recurring contributions, cancellation and billing settings are held by the provider you used. Support SceneSat is the separate page for supporting the station.

What to include in a bug report

Link to this section
  • Device model and operating-system version.
  • SceneSat version/build, and whether it came from a store, TestFlight or a direct download.
  • What you were trying to do, what happened, and the steps that reproduce it.
  • The affected channel/show link, approximate time and timezone, and any exact error text.
  • A screenshot or crash report if useful, with private conversations, email addresses, tokens and other sensitive details removed.

Send reports to info@scenesat.com. We may ask for a specific diagnostic file if more information is needed; please do not send a complete data export or unrelated personal files with a routine bug report.
